Hi there, I’m Brian, one of the new analysts (along with Zander) joining the investment team at Union Square Ventures. I couldn’t be more excited to get started at USV, examining and investing in the open internet through connected innovation.
I’ve recently graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in Engineering Management Systems, a degree that remixes traditional industrial engineering with economics and computer science. In the past I’ve worked for companies at all stages of growth. I’ve organized my hometown community in support of policy reform with Organizing for America, analyzed social data with Trendrr, developed Chase Community Giving with JPMorgan Chase & Co., and drove user acquisition and community engagement with Gilt Groupe.
I’m fascinated with how people organize and interact online, and I’m particularly passionate about empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs to create businesses that advance our society and economy. With more of us accessing the internet, our challenge is to develop (and discover) new businesses that help us solve problems, reach new audiences, and create value for everyone involved. At USV, these are the things we think about each and every day.
When I’m not working, I like listening to Hip-Hop music, watching the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, exploring Harlem, and sometimes blogging about cool sneakers. If you’re interested to get to know me, feel free to say “hi” or even “what’s up.” I’m on Twitter over here, and I blog over there.
